Our Scottish homes organised an astonishing awards night for their children and young people at the beginning of October. The joy during the event was contagious, with so many smiles filling the room.
We believe that resilience and steps towards growth and development deserve proper recognition. This is the only way young people can realise how much they are worth and reach their full potential. And with so many milestones achieved by everyone during the last year, there was a lot to celebrate at this event.
A group of young people and team members from our Murraythwaite home went above and beyond to ensure the event could be a success. They climbed Criffel in August to raise money to help fund the awards ceremony.
Criffel stands 570m high; it’s a short but steep ascent, and it was a lovely team challenge with lots of laughs and sore legs. There’s not a final total of the money raised yet; however, the group exceeded what they wanted to raise for the ceremony and decided to purchase toys for the children’s ward at the local hospital with the remainder, which is such a heartwarming gesture.
During the ceremony, 28 young people received an award, certificate, and voucher for the categories listed below.
We are extremely proud of everyone’s accomplishments!
The venue looked spectacular with the balloon displays thanks to Jane and Geraldine, two of our team members who were in charge of the décor.
In total, there were over 140 attendees, and everyone appeared to have a fantastic night… the dance floor was never empty.
We now look forward to seeing all the wonderful things our young people in Scotland will accomplish over the next year and can’t wait to celebrate their future successes.
