Our Regulated Care

All our residential child care provision is regulated in line with the requirements of Ofsted (England) and the Care Inspectorate (Scotland). We continually strive to go above and beyond regulatory standards, exceeding our own targets for excellence.

The guidelines from Ofsted and the Care Inspectorate are useful tools to ensure we excel in what we do and continue to deliver exceptional care and education to the children and young people at Pebbles.

The Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills inspects services providing education and skills for learners of all ages. Ofsted also inspects and regulates services that care for children and young people.

A dedicated Compliance Team

At Pebbles, we have a dedicated team of independent inspectors, the Compliance Team, who regularly review our services in England and Scotland through monthly visits to conduct a robust and impartial assessment. Their role is that of ‘critical friends’, providing praise where high standards are being delivered, as well as offering advice and support if anything needs improvement.

They produce a report of their findings, which includes their opinion as to whether children are effectively safeguarded and whether the conduct of the home promotes children’s wellbeing. These reports are distributed to the regulator and the placing authorities of the children accommodated in the home.

I absolutely love how I get tested in my inspections and really challenged as a manager. This is where my development stems from 100%. Pebbles’ independent inspectors don’t simply offer an interaction where I get asked a question and supply an answer; they rather choose to open different areas of our care practice and walk us down a path that encourages us to look at processes from a variety of views and experiences to enhance the home, team and children’s lives.
