An amazing group of Pebbles Care team members and one of our young people decided to embark on the challenge of climbing the three highest peaks in the UK over the course of three days with the aim of raising money for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity.
Pebbles Care Area Manager, David Hitchen, took on the responsibility of organising this great initiative and recruiting brave individuals willing to participate in the Three Peaks Challenge, which involves climbing the three highest peaks across the UK.
Day one kicked off the challenge with participants climbing the 4,413ft peak of Ben Nevis, Scotland, day two then moved onto the 3,209ft climb of Scafell Pike, England, and the third and final day involved climbing the 3,560ft peak of Snowdon, Wales.
Proceeds raised by the team members and young people, who courageously participated in the challenge, have been donated to the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. This organisation works to support families with children between 0-18 years old that have a terminal or life-threatening illnesses. Everyone involved is more than proud to be tackling the British country side in order to raise funds for such an admirable charity.
Before the group could start their adventure, they had to ensure all of the essential supplies were prepared for the next challenging few days.
The team set off on their journey the evening before beginning the challenge so that they could start their first big climb, Ben Nevis, bright and early the next morning. Before even reaching their destination they had to, of course, stop on their travels to take in some of the beautiful Scottish scenery spotted on the way.
On the morning of Tuesday 19th July, our group of adventurers enthusiastically set off on their first hike of Scotland’s Ben Nevis.
Smiles stayed spread across the group’s faces as they had been graced with some rare Scottish sunshine on the first stage of their expedition.
After a long, tiring hike the group finally made it to the top where they were blown away by the views. This has definitely made their sore feet even more worth it.
The group then descended to flatter ground for a well-deserved rest before facing the challenge of Scafell Pike.
On day two of the challenge the team travelled down to England in order to take on Scafell Pike.
The group made sure to appreciate the wonderful scenery and nature they were surrounded by on their walk.
After a long, strenuous hike our team members finally reached the top of Scafell Pike! They had a quick celebration for accomplishing their second challenge and headed back to much lower land to rest up before the final day of the Three Peaks Challenge.
The third day Pebbles Care’s Three Peaks Challenge came around. The participants made their way to Wales to take on their final challenge of Snowdon.
Our amazing colleagues finally reached the top of their final peak and were very proud of all they accomplished for themselves, Pebbles and The Rainbow Trust. Their tiring and strenuous efforts have been more than worth it, with breathtaking views and much-needed funds raised for the charity.
Through this great initiative our wonderful group have raised over £2,600 in donations for the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity! To put this in some context that is enough to allow the Rainbow Trust to provide over 100 hours of support to families with seriously ill children. This is a remarkable accomplishment and big thanks go to everyone involved for pulling this off.
