About the event
Formulation can be explained as a jigsaw that allows to better understand the needs of each child. By identifying the answer to five ‘Ps’ (Presenting Behaviour; Predisposing Behaviour; Precipitating Factors; Perpetuating Factors; Protective Factors), we gain a holistic view of the young person, defining their story and unlocking the way towards the right therapeutic approach for them.

A bit more about our speaker
Faye discovered her passion for working alongside children and families after volunteering with Parentline and working with young people in a mental health inpatient unit. These experiences spurred her on to complete a master’s degree in social work at Glasgow University.
She worked for around a decade as a social worker alongside organisations of the calibre of Children 1st, Barnardo’s and CLIC Sargent. Her commitment to help families and young people fuelled the desire to keep expanding her knowledge through a psychology conversion course at Glasgow University followed by a master’s degree in applied psychology at the University of Edinburgh. Her academic journey culminated with a Doctorate at the University of Newcastle in 2016. We are proud to have Dr Faye McLean as part of our Pebbles family and are delighted to be able to share her expertise and knowledge with you.
