Ruby House
Ruby House is a 4 bedded bungalow with large gardens, for young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a semi-rural location in Yorkshire.
We pride ourselves on a relaxed, friendly home that is full of laughter, acceptance and understanding. We particularly enjoy supporting young people with their mental health and gender.
Each young person has their own bedroom, which includes a desk and a TV, where there is privacy and the space to do schoolwork. Young people are given a key for their room and encouraged to take responsibility for their own space. Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions so they can make their bedroom feel like their own and take ownership of their surroundings, allowing them to flourish.
A member of staff within the team has the responsibility for ensuring that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard. Young people are also encouraged to use the kitchen for the preparation of food, helping them to develop their skills. We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting.
On the ground floor there is a large lounge, diner/kitchen, utility room, two communal toilets, house bathroom with separate shower, and five bedrooms (including two with en-suite facilities).
The house has approximately two acres of garden to the rear of the property, where young people can play games and relax, as well as a private car park for visitors.
