Highview is a detached two-bedroom property situated on the outskirts of Cumnock in East Ayrshire.
We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting.
The house has two storeys: the downstairs has a utility room, a large fitted kitchen/dining room, bathroom, lounge, quiet room and staff office/sleep room. Upstairs there are two single bedrooms for young people, one of which has en-suite. In addition to this, there is a large bathroom for the young people.
Each of the young person’s bedrooms are warm and bright and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their bedroom feel their own, allowing them to flourish. We provide a TV and CD/radio in each bedroom.
Staff ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard and young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Young people are encouraged to use the kitchen for the preparation of food.
Outside of the property there is a parking area for vehicles, with a garden at the front of the property. There is a large back garden with swings, a seesaw, trampoline, tree house and pathways where children and young people can both play and relax.
The home is situated in an idyllic location on the outskirts of Cumnock but provide great opportunity to support independent growth of young people. The home is supported by a highly skilled Management and care team. At our most recent Care Inspection young people and social workers commended the supportive and understanding approach of staff, and young people confirmed they felt “supported, respected and understood.”
