Green Acres
Green Acres is located in Blencow which is a small village near Penrith, Cumbria. It is divided by the River Petteril into Great Blencow to the south and Little Blencow to the North. Penrith and Keswick are on the edge of the Lake District National Park. The home is warm, welcoming, and homely.
The young people feel settled, relaxed, and cared for and have built up strong appropriate relationships with the staff team where they feel comfortable in expressing themselves and sharing thoughts and ideas.
The staff team at Green Acres all go above and beyond in their job role to support the young people, maximising their wellbeing and minimising possible risks.
The team have all formed professional relationships with one another, and all are able to work alongside each other as a team as well as individually. The young people’s needs consistently being met are Green Acres main priority. Focusing on a holistic and child-centred care plan that enables staff to work in a multi-agency setting, all contributing to the young person’s needs and listening to the child’s views, wishes and feelings is paramount.
Green Acres is a 2-bedroom detached property in a stunning rural location with views overlooking the hills.
Green Acres is attached to an old farm workshop and its rural location means there is a lot of wildlife around. Each young person has their own bedroom where there is privacy and space to do schoolwork. Young people are given a key for their room and encouraged to take responsibility for their own space. Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright, and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their bedroom feel their own and take ownership of their surroundings.
Staff ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard and young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Young people are encouraged, to use the kitchen for the preparation of food.
The house has been refurbished to a very high standard. The home is very modern and has a very warm feel providing a friendly and caring environment. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen, dining room, living room, one young person’s bedroom, shower room and a downstairs toilet.
Upstairs there is a bathroom with a separate toilet and two large sized bedrooms. Outside at the front of the property there is a large parking area and to the rear of the property there is a garden with a lawn and vegetable patch, where our young people can play and relax.
