Gartons house is a solo placement in a residential area.
We are based within 4 miles from the town centre with great transport links, health care services, schools, and local amenities. We have good knowledge and contact of local sports clubs and youth organisations.
Our aim is to offer young people living at Gartons House a family environment where they can settle, relax, and find stability in their lives. The home is deliberately a normal home in a normal street. We seek to normalise the experience of being in care, to reduce the difference in living arrangements between our care and that of the young person’s peers.
It is unusual to have a home that is planned for only one young person; however, this is necessary to meet the specific needs of the young person placed. The single placement nature of the home means we can be much more responsive to the contact arranged with friends and family. Friends may stay over, and family visits are easily accommodated.
As a solo placement, this also enables us to build great relationships with our young people’s famiy and the professionals involved in their lives. We have a small team of dedicated staff.

At Gartons House, we support children and young people through Therapeutic Parenting. By working therapeutically, we help change behaviours from those driven by a desire to self-harm to those where self-care feels a more satisfying option. The home receives the invaluable support of a dedicated in-house psychologist.
