Blane Cottage is situated in the small village of Maidens and offers a therapeutic environment where young people can develop resilience and establish a place of safety.
The team are experienced in trauma informed practice and work to support young people to achieve.
The house is all on ground level and has a fitted kitchen with all mod-cons, living/dining room and small snug games/lounge room. All bedrooms have en-suites with showers, two with bath/shower and a separate staff/visitor bathroom.
Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright, and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their room feel like their own. We provide a TV and CD/Radio in each bedroom and staff ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard. Young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy, as well as to use the kitchen for the preparation of food.
Outside the front of the property there is a lawn garden with driveway at each side of the property. A large grassed area where children can play and young people can relax is situated at the back.

At Blane Cottage, we support children and young people through Therapeutic Parenting. By working therapeutically, we help change behaviours from those driven by a desire to self-harm to those where self-care feels a more satisfying option. The home receives the invaluable support of a dedicated in-house psychologist.
