Our school in Baldersby-St-James is a small, safe and welcoming environment, where all pupils are valued and respected.  We offer a bespoke and personalised curriculum, with pupils at the heart of our practice. Our class sizes are kept deliberately small, enabling pupils the opportunity to access teaching and learning that is tailored to their unique needs.

We have high aspirations that all of our pupils will thrive, develop and achieve positive outcomes – both academically and personally. Alongside our core academic offer, we utilise our beautiful surroundings to support pupils in learning new skills like horticulture and ‘seed to table’ cooking, equine therapy and creativity.

We believe that our provision truly offers pupils an alternative pathway to experiencing success and a sense of purpose, where we celebrate the smallest steps within education and beyond.

At Darwin School, we support a maximum of 24 pupils between the ages of 11 and 16. Our school day starts at 9am and ends at 2.45pm, Monday-Friday. This amounts to 28 hours and 45 minutes in a typical week.
