Jasper House
Jasper House is a detached four-bedroom property located in Castleford, West Yorkshire. In a suburban location, Jasper House is surrounded by other houses in the small town.
We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting.
We have vast experience working with young people from the age of 6 years and supports young people up to the age of 17 years. The home promotes learning through play-based activities, focusing on the need to provide the young people with a safe and secure basis for further support.
Jasper house prides itself on promoting a homely feel, the areas of the home reflect a calming environment. We promote all aspects of the young person’s achievements through age and stage appropriate rewards such as certificates. As a team we have vast experience working with young people who have been identified as having Developmental Trauma and other attachment disorders, the support that we offer is supported by the Pebbles’ Forensic Psychologist.
Each young person has their own bedroom where there is privacy and space to do schoolwork, which young people are each given a key for so they can take responsibility for their own space. Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright, and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their bedroom feel like their own and take ownership of their surroundings, allowing them to flourish.
The staff team ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard, and young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Young people are also encouraged to use the kitchen for the preparation of food, helping them to develop their skills.
