Amber House is a four bed-roomed detached property. Situated in South Yorkshire, Barnsley is both central to Sheffield and Leeds, having good transport links to local rail and bus networks and the M1 and M62 Motorways are easily accessible by car. We aim to ensure that our house reflects that of a family home where young people feel safe, relaxed and cared for in a non-institutionalised setting.
Each young person has their own bedroom where there is privacy and space to do schoolwork. Young people are given a key for their room and encouraged to take responsibility for their own space. Each young person’s bedroom is warm and bright and we encourage all those who come and live with us to bring their own personal possessions to make their bedroom feel their own and take ownership of their surroundings. The staff team ensure that the environment of the home is maintained to a high standard and young people are encouraged to help with jobs to keep the communal areas clean and tidy. Young people are encouraged, to use the kitchen for the preparation of food.
Amber House has a warm and modern feel, providing a friendly, welcoming and caring environment. On the ground floor there is a fitted kitchen/dining room, large living room, office and utility room. Upstairs there is a bathroom, a shower room and 4 large sized bedrooms, one of which has an en-suite shower and toilet. Towards the back of the property there is a large accessible drive, a double garage and annex. Young people can use one of the garages to relax in or use as a games rooms, there is also a mini gym which can be use with staff supervision.
