Learning & development

We have invested in our own Learning & Development Centres, so we can provide our team with both recognised and bespoke learning and development opportunities to address the evolving levels of need associated to young people in matters including mental health, child sexual exploitation and safeguarding.

As well as our own space we have Learning and Development managers who work closely with our Senior Management Team and Service Managers to ensure we are continually achieving outstanding levels of support for young people.

Career progression

Pebbles offers its great team a ladder to success and excellent career progression opportunities. We take great pride in nurturing talent and believe that working with those who are invested within our vision and values sustains a culture and consistency of practice that benefits our young people.

Funding is available for staff to achieve the qualifications required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council: SVQ Levels 3 & 4 in Health & Social Care at SCQF level 7 plus ‘HNC Social Services’(Scotland) and Residential Childcare Level 3 (England) and staff can apply for further support if they would like to complete further career development.

We believe in nurturing talent and identifying skills in staff that can be utilised.

Needs focused

Our practice centres on meeting the needs of young people and we are committed to a continual journey of self-improvement in line with the current and emerging needs of young people and our partner authorities.

Through building close relationships with like-minded organisations we continually re-evaluate our service provision and have up-skilled particular teams to offer specialised provisions for young people with Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) considerations as well as young people who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Since starting with the company just over a year ago, I have attended mandatory training sessions as well as bespoke training events such as Barnardo’s CSE training. I have started work on my SVQ award and have found the support and guidance from my manager, colleagues and training manager to be invaluable. I feel my knowledge, skills and understanding of young people, the issues they have faced, and management of behaviour and emotions has increased, and I have applied this learning into practice.
